Secondary School Teacher (Grade 9-11)
Role
The Secondary School Teacher will play a key role in preparing students for higher academic levels while supporting their personal growth, independence, and critical thinking. Working within Tree Yard’s blended educational approach, the teacher will deliver engaging, structured lessons that combine UK-based academic frameworks, Montessori principles, and hands-on learning experiences.
This role focuses on developing confident, thoughtful, and capable learners who are able to think critically, communicate effectively, and take responsibility for their own learning. The teacher will support students aged 12–16, adapting lessons to meet a range of academic levels and learning styles.
Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery
Plan and deliver structured lessons aligned with UK-based academic standards, incorporating critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application.
Classroom Management
Create a positive, respectful, and focused learning environment. Encourage independence, accountability, and active participation in all lessons.
Assessment & Progress Tracking
Assess student progress through a range of formative and summative methods. Use results to adapt teaching strategies and provide targeted support.
Student Development
Support the development of academic skills, personal responsibility, and emotional maturity. Encourage students to become confident, self-directed learners.
Critical Thinking & Leadership
Foster analytical thinking, discussion, and debate. Encourage students to form opinions, explore ideas, and engage with global topics.
Parent Communication
Maintain clear and professional communication with parents regarding progress, achievements, and any concerns.
Professional Development
Stay up to date with modern teaching practices and contribute to the continuous development of the academic program.
Extracurricular Involvement
Support and participate in school-wide activities, projects, and enrichment programs.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant subject area. Teaching qualification is preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, ideally with secondary or upper primary students.
Skills
Strong communication and classroom management skills
Ability to engage and motivate older students
Experience with differentiated instruction
Confident in delivering structured academic content
Ability to integrate technology into teaching
Certifications
Valid teaching certification preferred.
Technology
Comfortable using digital tools, online platforms, and classroom technology.
